MARK SCHWARTZ

Mark Schwartz, a New Jersey native, started his career as a hair stylist in 1976 receiving his training at the Peter Bernard Hair People in New York City. He quickly proved himself as a young talent and started working at La Coupe on Madison Avenue, Manhattan.

His skills soon out grew La Coup and after 2 years, he was recruited by the world famous Vidal Sassoon Salon and Studio. He worked not only as a stylist but also as an instructor. His work for Vidal Sassoon had him starting at 5th Avenue in New York City and eventually going to Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills, CA.

The transition from New York to Beverly Hills opened Mark’s appetite for travel and he spent a year working as a freelancer throughout Italy. While in Italy he worked with the Aldo Coppola Agency in Milan, one of the fashion world’s greatest cities.

As Mark decided to return home in 1985, he started the relationship that would not only redefine his career, but it would change his life. He started working for the legendary John Sahag on Madison Avenue in New York City.

Mark spent eleven years working at the John Sahag Workshop. During this time he mastered the John Sahag Dry Cut. When he left in 1996, he was the Senior Stylist and Instructor at the Salon. He was the Director of Education at, Dry Cut Specialty and Editorial Styling.

In 1997 Mark returned to Los Angeles to be the Senior Stylist at Prive Salon on Melrose Place in West Hollywood CA. After a year at Prive he worked with “On Set” Motion Picture Hair Academy in Santa Monica, CA. While at “On Set”, Mark had the opportunity to work with many of the biggest stars in Hollywood. He left a lasting impression with all of the celebrities he worked with. Many still use his services when they are visiting the east coast.

During this time he also worked bicoastal, jet setting between Los Angeles, Aspen and Manhattan.

After Mark returned to New York City, he wanted to settle down and make a home of his own. He wanted to find a Salon that offered the quality of service and glamour he had experience traveling the world, but he wanted it in New Jersey where he grew up. This was the inspiration behind the creation of Schwartz Salon. Madison Avenue on Monmouth Street, in Red Bank.

Due to demand from Mark’s loyal New York cliental, he still works at the John Sahag Salon on Madison Ave in Manhattan every Tuesday.
